Female Ultra Performance of the Year

How about this for a top-5 in the female Ultrarunning Ranks:

1. Kami Semick World 100K
2. Diana Finkel Hardrock
3. Krissy Moehl UTMB
4. Jamie Donaldson World 24 Hour
5. Anita Ortiz Western States

Thoughts?

Good list.

Amy Palmiero-Winters won the Headlands 100M in 18:30 something.

...She wears a prosthetic leg!

UTMB finish might need to be higher, just sayin'

Diana Finkel at Hardrock at the top.

Correction: Amy won HEARTland, not Headlands, only 15 min. off my '02 CR!!

Agree that Diana Finkel's HRH performance should be #1.

Devon Crosby Helms. JFK 50. Course record at a 50 year old race! No question top 5.

@Dave Mackey,

I agree.

I would encourage anyone to read Devon Crosby Helms' write-up on her website about her run at the JFK 50.

Her run was incredible.

UTMB had more finishers than all the races on the list and JFK included??

I'm pretty sure that there needs to be a separate non-Kami Semick category. Not only did she rock the world 100k championships, but she won Miwok, won the world 50k championships, and ran a 3:29 at Caumsett. I can understand listing others, but if the question is what were the top five performances by women in 2009 rather than the women with the top five performances, then there should probably be some more Kami on the list. Just sayin'.

I've always thought there should be separate categories for the different distances. How can one really compare a 50k road race to a tough, mountainous 100 miler? They're two completely different beasts.

Re my choice for #1 (Diana Finkel), IMO it's going to be the hardest time to break of the five listed... but of course I'm Hardrock biased. :)

Sue, thanks for that correction. Oops on the name.

But crap, a 100 mile race with a prosthetic leg?

And yea, DCH CR at such a large and historic race like JFK50.

Finkel and Moehl, dead-heat !

In France, Krissy'exploit and new race-record were very impressive. She beats the best european mountain ultra-runner, Lizzy Hawker.

But Finkel's race in Hardrock is impressive too.

Kriss Moehl, only because I know him and because UTMB is a real international race. A kind of World Championship of ultra-trail distance.
