man, i was lazy after our run yesterday. i'll make the excuse for ya. running 14 miles in untouched 8-12 inch snow at a good clip wasn't going to make today easy anyhow.... 5:14 ain't bad at all. nice job.
Let's see...you came within 80-90 meters of running a sub 5 minute mile at...42 years of age?
How many people, of any age, on this entire planet, can run that far in 5:14:21?
I know you had another goal in mind but, failed epicly? Gimme a break.
I guess with age comes a different perspective.
I'm wondering how many runners would take a sub 5 minute mile over a 17:20:29 finish at the Western States 100.
That poll result would probably be as tilted in one direction as your poll was on whether there should be a 100 mile race prerequite to be considered for Western States.
And I do not think it would be tilted in the direction of a sub 5 minute mile, however impressive that achievement for anyone is.
AJW, congratulations on a job well done. Congratulations. You did a good job.
Once again - the entertainment value of your blog is epic! The final stretch with your muscles oozing massive amounts of lactate into the blood brings back bad memories.
Gallant effort Jay-dub! But. Let's be perfectly honest, those 14 seconds are equal to the 6 hours that Kyle beat me at Hard Rock 2008 - a lifetime!
See you at Lake Sonoma 50. Say hi to the wife and kids.
The obvious reason you didn't reach your goal is because you changed your track. Sisters would have definitely given you a sub-5. I even had a few xc kids ready to shovel the track and pace you through it. Next time you'll know where to do it.
Valiant effort, Andy! A year ago I could run 400 repeats consistently at 70 to 75. But stringing 4 consective, plus another 31 feet isn't gonna happen for me. I'd rather have your M10, anyday! Our young boys sure do know how to put us in our place, dont' they? Great job, AJW. Now, let the training begin for the big dance.

She: What's with the M10?
He: What's with the M10?!? I've got one and Craig doesn't!
That was *before* the run.

We could tell that you were trying real hard. Really, really hard. And 5:14 is fast, just not as fast as LB. Thanks for letting us share the moment.
Nice work, Andy. I'd blame that extra 14 seconds on your coach. Brad?

I'm sure it was a great effort. Too bad you didn't have more consistent training partners!
You're right, Brad. It was Spike's fault....
Again, great effort, AJW
Hank: LOL:)
AJW: Where's the video link???
Great video at Craigs - the effort shows!

Wow, I didn't know you were trying this at Pre's house! Awesome job, but I believe you owe me some beers...

Nice effort Andy!
Nice to see your son with the VT100 shirt too!
So maybe time for a new nickname. Jizzle Fizzle maybe? I like plain ole Fizzle. :)
