Back to Marin!

I'm heading back to the old stompin' grounds this weekend for a little jaunt through the Headlands. Should be fun to see what unfolds up front with Steidl, Roes, Wardian, Kaburagi, Mackey and a bunch of others ripping it up on the men's side and Semick, Beck, Smith, Hawker and quite a few others on the women's side. This race has truly become one of the big, late season ones to watch on the ultra circuit.

As for me, I'll be happy to drink some fresh Sierra Nevada and get through the run with anything under 8:30

Who do you think will win?

AJW, I didn't know you were coming down! Awesome! It'll be great to see you after the race... but please promise me you won't drink all the beer before I finish the run!

BTW, Beck is out from the women's race. Ortiz should have made it in, too, but didn't come off the waitlist in time.

Is Steidl in shape? If he is, even Roes might not be able to catch him.

I am hearing Mackey is in the mix.

Bryon, I'll save you some beer.
Great to know that Anita will be there. A strong race will set her up for potential UROY.

Mike, don't know about Uli's fitness but in my recollection he has never toed the line in a race he did not intend to win.

And GZ, yes, I heard the same about Mackey (from Footfeathers) that's why I mentioned him in my post. The guy knows how to run in Marin.

Should be a fun weekend!

Whoops. Sorry about that. I missed that. Sure is bright out here.

Some folks are also kicking Canadian runner Jason Loutitt in the mix.

Yes, Loutitt looks fast.

Mark my words Chris Lundstrom will be in the mix. He ran 2:17 at Twin Cities marathon this fall !! Great guy !!!

I didn't know Loutitt was heading down! The only strike against him will be experience, if I'm not mistaken it'll be his first 50miler, but dude is solid, great on trails and runs a 1h06m 1/2 marathon and 2h24m marathon. I'm sure he'll go out hard and hope for the best...would be great to see a Canuck in the mix!
Have fun down there, wish I was able to join you guys!

Should be a good run. I'm looking forward to seeing the contenders vs. the pretenders. You'll do well. You can run faster than 8:30. I was lost for a while and kinda out of shape and I was sub 8. Super runnable course just lots of slopey Marin style hills. Go get em' big boy.

Have a good run, Andy. Enjoy those bare trails.

Kick it, homeslice. You're back in your element. Heck with that Hayward Field stuff. No need for track spikes in Marin. Good luck, buddy.

good luck today AJW! i can't wait to see how it unfolds!!

As I predicted, even on a good day Roes couldn't catch Steidl. No respect from the peanut gallery.
