Cal 2

Often fun,

Occasionally painful,

Usually competitive,

Always stressful.

And, anyone remember this year? I hear it's been snowing again in the Sierra.

Joe has had at least three more beers than I have.

Craig was still getting M numbers!

Quick, who's happier? Shannon, Scott, or me?

Man, I can't wait to be back there again this year!

Neither can I! The boys are looking forward to another weekend with Uncle JungleGym

Likewise from my end. If it's a snow year, maybe they can teach me to snow before hand.

I bet they can't wait to get back to SW Colorado either. I'm looking forward to seeing Carson and hear what one liners he can come up with... like last time "but he beat you right?" (speaking of RR 100). What motivating line you got for me this year Carson?

FastEd,

Absolutely! I can't tell you how much I am hoping they pick my name out of the hat next weekend.

Nah, nobody remembers 2005. What happened that year?

Craig,

If I recall correctly 2005 was the year you battled snow, heat, and Southern Californians with trick flashlights to snag M10 from the legendary Tim Twietmeyer.

I thought 2005 was the last ridiculously easy year at WS. Am I wrong?

Bryon,

Actually, you're right. It was an easy year. A bit of snow up high but nothing major. The heat was minimal and, it was the last year they skipped Duncan Canyon and ran the easy road from Red Star to Robinson.

In fact, I also think it was a few miles shorter that year:)

Shorter or not, I'll still take my sub-20 at States! :-)

Beer on the infield, was total leach that year. No crew, no drop bags, no car, hitched ride to Sac. airport with Ethan, no love...

Yeah, if I recall correctly you slept in your tent with a jacket and tie on after the race. And, you woke up when you landed in Philly in a puddle of drool. Those were the days!

Jiz, You're starting to reminisce like you're getting old or something.

Yes, that was the last of the Star-fire course. That road suited me just fine. It's not single-track or the classic route through Duncan, but it sure is a direct route from Red Star to Robinson.

Yes, I am getting old but as far as reminiscing, those Cal 2 pictures were from 2009.

Did any of your photos from that Aid Station come out? Or, was it too dark by then?

Perhaps we'll cross paths there this year!

Craig Thornley said...

Perhaps we will cross paths at Cal 2, but you're so much better than I am that I probably don't have a chance. But, if we're on the track at the same time...

AJW said...

If we're on the track at the same time I am toast. maybe, I'm toast anyway.

Nice pics. It's always dark when I get to CAL 2. Hopefully this year I can wait to turn my light on until just after.

I really hope NIKE calls and gets you a deal. I would love to see the Jizzle puppet talking smack with Lebron and Kobe.
